Organisational models drawn by managers and designers working in NYC Government
Between January and June 2019, Fanny Giordano – the Ph.D. fellow of our lab – visited Parsons DESIS Lab in NYC. She worked with the Service Design Studio to develop a method to explore where design is in the New York City government, but also where else it could be.
This semester-long exploration culminated in a workshop with about 60 public servants from NYC government, representatives from the Federal government, as well as a team from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
We invite you to read the article she wrote (10 min read) in which you can learn about the method she developed to question where design exists in government, where it has the potential to grow, as well as how the method was applied in a large workshop in NYC government, and how the method can be replicated.
